Know Our School

DGCHS is one of the constitute schools of the Department of Education (DepEd) strategically located in the Province of IloIlo, Region 6 – Western Visayas.

• Founded on 01 July 1947 as the First Public Secondary School in the Municipality of Dueñas.
• Formerly known as Dueñas High School with seven (7) pioneer teachers and Mr. Jose M. Ledesma as its first principal/school head.
• On 21 April 1950, the first batch of graduates, 38 in all with 21 boys and 17 girls, marched to received their diplomas with Ludovico Cocjin and Josefina Soncuya as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
• On June 1965, House Bill No. 13991 was signed into law (RA 4342) which converted the school into a nationally funded institution sponsored by Rep. Jose Aldeguer with yearly appropriation of Php 100,000.00.
• On 01 July 1970, through Republic Act 4342, it takes the name as Dueñas General Comprehensive High School.
• It celebrated its Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) on July 1, 1997.
• On March 2002, the first batch of SSC graduates, 30 in all with 17 boys and 13 girls, marched to received their diplomas with Ma. Noela Joy L. Bagsit and Connie B. Paborada as valedictorian and salutatorian respectively.
• One of the 283 Tech-Voc schools in 2009.

After 67 years of existence, from the cogon and nipa huts stands a formidable structure, sprawling in its 7.8 hectares’ school site. Its roots and fruits have reached all over the world which excellently fared-well in all aspects of endeavor which was nurtured by its education stakeholders.
